Safety measures
Car seats
Car seats in taxis and buses must be properly installed, and the child must be securely fastened.
For more information, visit the Société de l'assurance automobile du Québec (SAAQ) website (see the Useful links and documents section below).
Car seats are mandatory in buses and minibuses.
For a child using a car seat, the person in charge of them (14 or older) must:
- Provide a car seat suited for the child’s weight and size, until the child is 145 cm tall or at least 9 years of age
- Attach the car seat to the vehicle seat by themselves
- Remove the car seat from the vehicle until the next trip (the person in charge must be able to dispose of the car seat after being dropped off)
- Mention when making the reservation that a car seat will be used
Authorized only in taxis.
A child not using a car seat must:
- Wear their seatbelt, unless they are too small to keep upright on their own
- If the child is too small to stay upright on their own, the person in charge (14 years or older) accompanying them should first buckle their own seatbelt and then hold the child on their lap
