As per section 59 of the Act respecting the preservation of agricultural land and agricultural activities, the MRC submitted a collective application to identify destructured tracts of land in the region. These tracts are in permanent agricultural zone sectors (marked green on the map) and are used for non-agricultural purposes, mostly residential.
As defined in the Mining Act, a mining-incompatible territory is a territory in which the viability of activities would be compromised by the impacts of mining, whether it be on public or private land.
