A trip is flagged as unused for the following reasons:
- Lack of or unsafe access ramps
- Inaccessible or unsafe entrance to the home
- Inappropriate wheelchair
- Failure to pay
- Failure to follow rules regarding luggage or shopping bags
- Failure to follow rules regarding pets
- Forgetting to cancel, cancelling at pick-up time, or failing to cancel within the required window
- Refusing to take transit
- Refusing to use a seatbelt without a certificate of exemption from the SAAQ
Penalties for one or more unused trips
- If the unused trip is made on the outward journey, the return journey is automatically cancelled;
- The fees charged to the user correspond to the current rate;
- If the user does not pay the unused trip on their next journey, boarding will be refused;
- On the 3rd unused trip: current rate + a one-week travel suspension;
- After the 3rd unused trip: sanctions are at the discretion of the transport service.
A user who makes six (6) cancellations (6 one-way trips) within a period of four (4) consecutive weeks will have their transportation suspended for a period of one week.
Cancellations for public holidays, pedagogical days, storm days and cancellations for a specific period are excluded.
Depending on the severity or frequency of the inappropriate behaviour, the user could receive a temporary suspension of a week or more or, in some cases, a permanent suspension.
Failure to follow one or more of Paratransit services’ rules could result in an immediate end to any transit use or the user being charged additional fees.
