The CLD of Brome‐Missisquoi is calling for candidates eligible for the 2021 grants supporting young farmers

Cowansville, October 6, 2021 — L’ARTERRE and the CLD of Brome‐Missisquoi are inviting candidates to apply for the 2021 grants supporting young farmers! The development and support of resilient, innovative and regenerative businesses constitute the priority actions of the CLD’s 2021–2023 Agri‐food development strategic plan. Therefore, these farm grants’ main objective is to support and recognize the efforts made by newly established young entrepreneurs who’ve recently acquired a farming business, or who are about to do so, on the territory of Brome‐Missisquoi.

Four grants will be awarded this year to highlight the work accomplished by farmers who presently stand out in the following categories:

  • L’INNOVANTE, for innovative approaches in agriculture, offered by the CLD of Brome‐Missisquoi: $4,000
  • LA MARAÎCHÈRE, for vegetable and fruit growers, offered by the Institut jardinier‐maraîcher and Growers & Co.: a professional development course and farm tool kit (valued at $3,000) + $1,000
  • LA NOUVELLE MODÈLE D’AFFAIRES, for projects developing new business models, offered by the UPA: $4,000
  • LA 2e VIE À UNE ENTREPRISE EXISTANTE, offered to farming businesses wishing to transfer their enterprise to the next generation: $4,000.

In practical terms, these grants could provide the necessary support for the implementation of a project by covering the costs of consulting services, training activities, the purchase of equipment and other expenses deemed relevant to the realization of a project related to the agricultural enterprise.

Interested aspiring or new generation farmers have until November 15, 2021, before noon, to submit their application. All projects will have to meet the general eligibility criteria and the specific criteria of each selected category. The projects will then be reviewed by the selection committee, and the winners will be announced in early December.
