Working in waterways
NO WORK IS ALLOWED in the shoreline of a waterway without the necessary authorizations issued ahead of time. Before undertaking any work near a waterway, verify the regulations in force with your municipal inspector.
MRC Jurisdiction
The Brome-Missisquoi MRC has exclusive jurisdiction on all waterways within its territory. Within the framework of this jurisdiction the MRC can proceed with the maintenance and repair of waterways as well as any intervention judged necessary. Since 2007, a bylaw also controls different types of work in waterways.

What is a waterway?
Attention! Some ditches are now considered as waterways under article 103 of the Loi sur les compétences municipales. The law makes no distinction between regular or intermittent waterways and those created or modified by human intervention.
