Renovation programs
The MRC Brome-Missisquoi has the responsibility of managing the home improvement Program by the Société d’habitation du Québec (SHQ)
- RénoRégion Program
- Residential Adaptation Assistance Program
- Accessibility to Small Establishments * Please note that the correct English term for this program has not yet been disclosed.
RenoRegion program
The RénoRégion program provides financial assistance to low or modest-income owner-occupants in rural areas for work to correct major defects in their home.
The MRC has a budget of $140,000 for the RénoRégion program 2022-2023. Once this budget is allocated to eligible homeowners, no new request can be processed until a new budget is announced.
The financial assistance can reach 95% of eligible costs, without however exceeding $20 000 or $25 000 depending on income.
To see if you qualify, read the following main criteria:
- Your buildings (excluding land) are valued at $150,000 or less (standardized value) according to your 2021 municipal tax bill;
- You are an owner-occupant of a single family dwelling (or duplex);
- Your house requires at least $3,500 work aimed at correcting one or more major defect (exterior walls, openings, balcony, roof, structure, electricity, plumbing, heating, thermal insulation, etc.). Note that work done prior to the issuance of the Certificate of Eligibility are not eligible for the program;
- You have not benefited from the "RénoRégion" Program within the last 5 years;
- You have not benefited from the "Rénovation Québec (only Farnham)" Program within the last 5 years;
- The family income is low:

Residential Adaptation Assistance Program
The Residential Adaptation Assistance Program allows people with permanent disabilities to obtain financial assistance to adapt their home. Assistance will be up to $ 16,000 per eligible person. Additional assistance may be available in certain situations that could bring assistance to $ 33,000
The CLSC therapist’s recommendations list of admissible work is required.

Accessibility to Small Establishments Program (in French)
The Accessibility to Small Establishments program aims to improve the accessibility of people with disabilities or reduced mobility to small institutions. Owners and tenants of commercial, business and meeting facilities not subject to a legal accessibility requirement are eligible for the program.
More specifically, the purpose of this program is to provide financial assistance to these owners and tenants for carrying out work in order to comply with the requirements stated in the Construction Code (CQLR, chapter B-1.1, r 2).
