The MRC of Brome-Missisquoi straddles the line between the St. Lawrence Lowlands and the Appalachians, on the southern border of Québec.
Over time, this particular location has led the citizens of Brome-Missisquoi, to create a series of unique landscapes marked by contrasts. Between the Pike River plain and the Missisquoi Valley, we discover countless environments and just as many territorial trends.

The Brome-Missisquoi territory is geographically divided into 5 major landscapes:
Located in the western part of the Brome-Missisquoi territory, bordered by the Saint-Lawrence lowlands, the Pike River and Yamaska Plains with their vast open spaces, constitute one of the five great landscapes of the region.
In the heart of these rolling plains and vastly eroded slopes of the Appalachian foothills, we find the birthplace of Quebec’s viticulture.
Crossing the foothills of Dunham, a line linking Bromont, Cowansville, Dunham and Frelighsburg, we enter the vast territory of the Appalachian ridges and trenches. The sector constitutes the most substantial series of Brome[LS1] -Missisquoi landscapes, occupying more than 40% of the MRC.
Although they occupy less than 9% of the MRC of Brome-Missisquoi’s territory, the most important massifs of the region (Sutton, Glen, Foster and Brock) share the remarkable quality of integrating themselves in most of the landscapes here, no matter where we look.
