Water management

Watercourse maintenance and management

MRC Brome-Missisquoi is responsible for managing all watercourses in the region. It supports municipalities and local residents with their watercourse maintenance and improvement projects or any other project that will impact the land near a watercourse.

In addition to these legal duties, MRC Brome-Missisquoi also conducts innovative surface water and groundwater projects to ensure a sufficient quantity and quality of water in the face of a changing climate.

Permitting

If you plan to undertake a project near a watercourse or a project that could impact the flow of a watercourse, you must submit a permit request to your municipal government and/or MRC Brome-Missisquoi before starting work.
