The new ministerial guidelines for fire safety (in French only) resulted in the reform of this area in Quebec in the early 2000’s. This led the MRC to develop a Fire Risk Safety Cover Plan, which went into force in July 2006.
The reduction of losses and increasing the effectiveness of the firefighting services are the two main priorities.
The first is a major change for the firefighting milieu. The preventative approach, rather than reactive, is now the priority. The second concerns intervention. The approach, equipment and intervention management have evolved enormously. The plan ensures the renewal of fire services in this area.
